Mac OS X Split-Half Search Techniques

The following are split-half search techniques:

• Start in single-user mode by pressing Command-S during startup

• Perform a Safe Boot by pressing Shift during startup

• Suppress automatic login during startup by pressing Shift when the progress bar appears until the login window appears

• Systematically kill processes

• Systematically remove potential problem files

• Disconnect peripherals

• Run Network Utility to evaluate other devices and computers on the network
