Understanding Buses

A peripheral bus provides connections for peripheral devices. Different types of buses support the communication requirements of different types of peripheral devices. For example, a keyboard sends very small amounts of information to the computer, while a video camera or a hard drive sends much more information. Mac OS X supports a large number of industry-standard buses.
