Lesson 12. Printing

Time

This lesson takes approximately 1 hour to complete.

Goals

Describe the printing process on Mac OS X

Configure Mac OS X for printing and Printer Sharing

Configure Mac OS X for fax support

Mac OS X includes a powerful printing architecture that provides support for a wide variety of printers. In many cases, users can connect a printer to their computer and print to it without having to do any configuration. Mac OS X will detect a newly connected printer and automatically configure itself to print to the printer.

Although Mac OS X provides automatic configuration, it doesn't work for all printers. You will still need to understand how Mac OS X prints and the tool you use to configure the print service and printers so that you can manually add printers and troubleshoot problems.
