Finder command that opens Info window revealing Spotlight terms, permission settings, application settings, previews, and general information about an item; accessed using the Command-I keyboard shortcut.



GID (Group Identification Number)

An identification number used in multiuser operating systems to uniquely identify groups of users.



GPU (Graphics Processing Unit)

Refers to the video card or chipset that a computer uses to draw objects on the screen. Older computers that don't have a separate GPU use the CPU to draw images on the screen. A separate GPU speeds up computer operation by keeping the CPU free to process data.
